Season 2 is the second season of Lucifer. FOX announced that the series was renewed for a second season on April 7, 2016. The season premiered on Monday, September 19, 2016. On October 31, 2016, FOX announced the season will have 22 episodes, nine more than previously stated. However, on March 23, 2017, it was announced that only 18 episodes will air this season. The final four episodes were stand-alone episodes and were moved to be part of the third season.
